What's Official
The Staff Selection Commission has officially released the tentative answer keys and candidate response sheets for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2026 Tier 1. The examination was conducted successfully between September 30 and October 28, 2026. This release allows candidates to cross-verify their marked responses against the commission's provisional answer key to gauge their performance.
Candidates have a strictly limited window to submit any objections they may have regarding the provided answers. The objection portal opened on November 4, 2026, and will close on November 7, 2026, at 9:00 PM. Each challenge requires a fee of ₹50 per question. It is essential to note that no representations will be accepted after the deadline, and the commission will only process challenges submitted through the official portal.

Exam Pattern & Marking Scheme
The SSC CGL Tier 1 examination is a computer-based objective test designed to filter candidates based on core aptitude and reasoning. The exam comprises four distinct sections: General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension.
Each section contains 25 questions, totaling 100 questions for the entire paper. Every correct answer carries 2 marks, while a penalty of 0.50 marks is deducted for every incorrect response. Candidates must remember this negative marking scheme while calculating their raw score during the answer key analysis. Efficiency in navigating these sections is what usually separates successful aspirants from the rest, which is why I often advise students to use the mock test interface on Aspirant Arcade to simulate this exact pressure and refine their time-allocation strategy.
Section/Subject-wise Priority Breakdown
- ▸Quantitative Aptitude: High priority. Focus on Algebra, Geometry, and Data Interpretation as these topics consistently yield the highest score density.
- ▸General Intelligence & Reasoning: Moderate priority for conceptual clarity, but high priority for speed. Focus on missing number series and coding-decoding patterns.
- ▸English Comprehension: High priority for scoring. Prioritize Reading Comprehension and Cloze Test practice to maximize marks in limited time.
- ▸General Awareness: Low-to-moderate priority. Focus on Static GK and current affairs from the last six months preceding the exam date.
How to Challenge the Answer Key
The challenge process is technical and time-sensitive. You must access the objection portal through your official dashboard on the SSC website using your registered credentials. Once you identify a discrepancy, select the specific question ID, provide the correct answer or your reasoning, and attach necessary supporting documentation if required.
Keep in mind the cost structure: ₹50 for one question, ₹100 for two, and so on. Payment must be processed online through the provided portal. Once the deadline of November 7, 2026, at 9:00 PM passes, the portal will be inaccessible. Do not attempt to send objections via email or physical mail, as these will be summarily rejected.
Tip
Only challenge questions where you are absolutely certain and have verified proof from standard reference books, as the ₹50 fee per question is non-refundable.
